A Chocolate Adventure! - Half Term Things to Do
Join Kerry to learn all about the origins of chocolate. Fresh from her adventures, walking through her own supplier’s cacao estate in Ecuador and seeing first-hand the cocoa pods growing on trees. Suitable for school year 2 to school year 8 children.
You will have a chance to see a real cocoa pod and taste the chocolate that is made from the previous year's harvest.
You will make 12 chocolate discs inspired by the flavors with 4 being made with dried mango, which is grown next to the cocoa trees.
There will be a choice of marshmallows and sprinkles to decorate your remaining chocolate discs.
You will learn:
Where chocolate trees are grown and why
What a cocoa pod looks like
What a cocoa pod looks like when cut in half
How to temper chocolate using the seeding method
A fun test to check the chocolate is at the right working temperature
How to make chocolate discs
How to decorate the discs with various toppings
You will leave with new chocolate knowledge and 12 beautiful chocolate discs.
If adults wish to participate, please reserve an additional space. Due to the size of the working area it isn’t possible for parents to remain during the session unless they have booked. The Mill is a minutes drive away and serves tea and coffee, a perfect hour of me time!
